If y = a, then x-a = a, so x = 2a
Thus 7(2a) +5a = 76
19a = 76
a = 4 = y
x = 2a = 8 = b
a= y=4 and b=x = 8

From the first equation, substituting x=b&y=a: b-a=a --> b = 2a. Then, substuting this into the second equation: 7*2*a+5*a=76 --> a=76/19=4, thus b=2*a=8.

x=8 y=4....

x-y=a a=y.... 8-4=4 so it works there....

7x+5y=76 so 7*8+5*4= 76... I hope that helps you...
