Lately, I've been thinking about going back to school and studying pharmacy. However, was told that you have to be in school for 5 to 6 years to become a pharmacist. I'm 24 now and don't want to make such a long commitment to school. Is there any schools that offer a pharmacy program for less than 5 years?

Well, Lita, if you have finished your prereqs to pharmacy school, it does not take this long. Check out these articles for pharmacy news:

Now if you need to finish the prereqs it will take you 2 years of undergrad and 3-4 years of pharmacy school itself.

It takes on average 2-4 years for prepharmacy and 4 years for pharmacy school. There are a handful of 3 year programs, but to be competitive you'll need a bachelors. At my school, for the P-1s, 70% have a bachelors.

No, sorry. Im going to school for pharmacy and you need your 4 regular years 3 years after that and then 2 years after that. its a long process! Its the same schooling as a doctor needs! But its worth it because the pay is good
