Hannah is a really cute name.... But this whole phase of "Hannah Montana" might make the name too worn out in a few years b/c the kids who are watching her show will want to name their siblings hannah as well.. you know what I mean. But I do agree, hannah is a really down to earth name.
You said you don't like the weird names, but maybe you can go classic from other regional countries if you want... Or change the spelling to make the wholesome name and make it unique. For example, instead of Tania, it could be Tanya.
I really like Simran, which is an Indian name that means "rememberance". Or Jolie, french for pretty, but Angelian Jolie might be the connection for most people.
Any ways, to answer your question, Hannah is a really nice name...

It's common, but certainly not cutesy. When my cousin named his daughter Hannah, about 12 yrs ago, my father thought it was the most awful thing, to give such an old fashioned name to a child, so it's odd that some people think a name is old fashioned, yet other people think the same name is modern and "new"/

Not too cutesy, very classic and definitely sweet.
Yes, it is more on the popular side - but as with all names, it's going through a more "in use" phase.
If you love the name, and it's something you and your spouse really want for your daughter, then by all means, choose it and be happy.
Congratulations!

I think it is a sweet, innocent and wholesome name. I know a Hannah and she is a very sweet and kind person. I think it is fairly uncommon and kind of a refreshing change from the current trendy names. It's unique and it's also a name a girl can use throughout her life and not "outgrow" it. I also like that Hannah has biblical roots and means "grace of God". Good choice.

Go with what you like! One of my daughter's names is Haley--which is in the same kind of situation. It seems to be really popular now--but I always really liked the name. I think Hannah is a beautiful name.
I grew up being named Crystal--which was very popular in my generation. There were 5 other Crystal's in my grade. It didn't really bother me--it just made me strive harder to stand out--I worked extra hard in school and extracurricular activities to do my best so that everyone knew which Crystal I was! lol--but seriously--don't worry about it being sort of common--I'm the mother of a Joshua, Haley, and Danielle--all relatively common names. But I think their names are beautiful and that's what matters!!
At least you aren't naming your kid Apple.

I too love the name Hannah or Savannah. I am 36 weeks pregnant with my first daughter and we are going to name her Savannah. It is a little less common and we can call her either Savannah or Hannah. She will have a choice when she is older.

I love it, and it is NOT too cutesy, but I think people will associate "hannah montana" with the name, because that is what's "hot" right now.

hannah is definately not too cutesy, and dont let anyone tell you otherwise. It is a perfectly sweet, perfectly normal, traditional name. I mean, it's not original, but it is surely not as common as emily or sarah or madison or olivia. I think hannah is a good choice.
