I had a car accident, actually I ran over a deer on the freeway on Friday. I'm 20yrs old. I was driving my mother in law's car but am not on the policy. Since the car is undrivable I will have to rent a car. I already made the claim to the insurance company and they said that the policy covers a rental car up to $35.00 per day. What are some good rental car companies that will let me rent the car? What is the process in doing this?
Do I go up to the rental car company and show them the insurance policy and give them my claim number? Would I have to pay out of my pocket and then the insurance company will reimburse? Does anyone know?

Similar thing happened to me...my insurance agent made the arrangements for me and i just picked up the car. You should call the insurance company and see if they will do the same for you.

The insurance will probably cover all of it, but since you're under 25, many rental companies will add on a charge. It used to be that you couldn't even rent under 25, now you can rent at 18, but there is a sliding scale of "penalties" that the rental company will hit you with.

It will most likely be an out of pocket and then reimburse type deal.

I haven't even heard of any rental car companies that will rent to under-25-yr-old drivers, for the standard rate, anyway.

Assuming you can find one, I am certain you would have to pay for it yourself and get re-imbursed from the insurance company. There are few insurance companies that pre-pay for stuff like this.

I don't believe that car rental places will rent to anyone under 21 years of age.

your insurance agent may be the best person to ask.

Try Avis, Budget, Enterprise.....etc.

......but yeah, that age thing might get in the way
