destiny: (definitions taken from dictionary.com)
1. something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.
2. the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
3. the power or agency that determines the course of events.
In order to find out if there is such thing as destiny, we must define as clearly as possible what "destiny" means to us.
Here are the definitions for destiny. The predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, coursed of events. The power or agency that determines the course of events.
What if we found out that we are not the controllers of our destiny and have never been, but have pretended to be.
For example: when we were little children, we didn't know anything and didn't make "decisions," and our parents "made decisions for us," yet we didn't even know what decisions were. We grew up, taught to associate our actions with the concept of "choice" and thus every time we did something, we were thinking that "we are choosing this." Now, does choice exist, or do we simply associate all the actions with the concept of choice? (Kind of like urinating or taking a dumb and then associating it with "choice." Yet, did you "choose" to take a dump? or did it simply happen on its own authority, with its own processes of the body, and we simply associated it with our concept of "choice," just because we supposedly "found" the toilet to sit on.
We are more like "accommodators" than "choosers" in this case, since we accommodate to go find the toilet, accommodate our thoughts without knowing the origin of thoughts, and associating thoughts with "choice," and then think that "we are choosing to think this way," when the reality of it might not even be so.
Most of the time, we walk around in the world, having associations of the world which we were taught, not even knowing what the world is or where it came from, although we do have associations of where we "think" it came from.
In order for you to find out your "answer" on if there is such thing as "choice," or as destiny, you must be willing to explore all possibilities, even the possibility that there might not be choice, and that there might be destiny or there might not be destiny.
Why do you assume that there is, or there is not?
What does each assumption give you? What is the upside/downside of believing that there is choice? What is the upside/downside of believing that there is no choice?
These are the questions one must ask.

This is a great question.
I'm at work right now even though I can leave since my shift is over. I have to finish up some paperwork.
I read somewhere that much of life is just fulfilling the duties of the life that one is assigned.
How much can I really control?
I recently learned how to ride a motorcycle; that was fun!
I wish I was more clear on what my destiny is.

I am destined for many things but I have a lot of things that I could be destined for. I could be an actor, a singer, a chef, an author, a D.J., or a pathologist. I will always be destined to listen to music, read, and ask questions.

My destiny is to help others in various ways.
One thing I have done frequently in my life is help people close up their homes as they move to a new place, whether through death, loss of capability, or change in lifestyle.
Another thing I have done on numerous occasions is help the terminally ill in their last days, weeks, months. I'm a nurse, retired but still active in helping friends.
It's also my destiny to assist people to become the best they can be, by encouraging them to strive for the moon and stars. They are attainable.
I'm here to learn and teach and love and be loved. To share what I've learned on my sometimes rocky, but now stable and happy, course in life.
I love this life I live.

Destiny really means destination. I think that throughout our lives we have many destinies, many different things to fullfill. I think a more important question to ask is what is our purpose...for what main reason were we created. I think I was created to help awaken people to truth.

I live one day at a time; try to earn my living honestly and hope for a community that cares about my well being.
The really long answer below has got to be from an introduction to philosophy text book. If so, and you happen to read this answer again, I would like the reference.

I have no destiny. I have free will.
If there is destiny, there can be no free will.
If there is no free will, there is no accountability.
Without accountibility, no one can be punished for doing wrong nor rewarded for doing good.

Who knows... No one, not even those bloody fortunes, can predict anyone's destiny. Only you can decide who you'll be and what you'll accomplish.
