A pkt of chocolate cigarettes n a bag of yellow sherbet shared out while sat on the swings on the "rec", each dipping fingers into the sherbet til they went yellow n holding the sweet cigarettes like they were real ones! If our clubbed together money didn't reach enough for the chocolate ciggies we bought the candy ones instead. Red Smarties licked n rubbed onto lips to look like lipstick! No money left? No probs....find an empty pop bottle n take it to shop for the money back on it! Black Jacks n Fruit Salads 4 for a penny, Juicy Fruits bubble gum...big, pink and round, with a fruity juicy centre, Bazooka bubble gum with the transfer/tattoo, give your arm a good lick n slap the tattoo on....try n wash it off before going home coz I wasn't allowed bubble gum! White choc mice, Rainbow drops...chocolate discs with hundreds n thousands sprinkled on top, aniseed balls 3d a quarter, aniseed twists, cough candy, OMG such memories and our list could go on n on....(Bj) I remember when I lived in Lancing friends of the family had relatives who lived in Canada. They came over for a visit n brought with them a couple of boxes of Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum. It wasn't on sale at that time in England n we were very popular at school coz we sold a stick of gum for a lot more than the whole packet cost!! There were 5 of us selling it at school n it was good while it lasted...the headmaster found out n we all got the cane for selling gum on school grounds!! Well worth the "whack!" (he didn't whack as hard as my mum did lol). We have a shop in our area that sells a lot of "Childhood Favourites"....is it any wonder we've all got bad teeth or none of our own left lol...all that sugar! Big sis got a shilling, brother got 6d n me being the youngest I got 3d pocket money (1d had to go into church collection).

We had sixpence pocket money too- had to last us all week.
sweet tobacco - little gold nugget chewing gum in small sacks- real sports mixture 8 for old penny used to last me the afternoon on the swings -all the collecting 'cards' with chewing gum like thunderbirds-black jacks 4 for penny we used to smile at old ladies with black teeth to scare them-hehehehe
Lucky bags for 3d that were never lucky-those bags of little sherbert like balls that used to crackle and fizz in your mouth.
Those lollipops on windy day trips to the seaside 5 inches across and interlaced with your own hair after 30 seconds
My favs were always the liquorice that was flattened at the top
and the liquorice that had sherbert up the middle.
Oh and the kaylie ? kayly ? all multicoloured and layed in the jars 2 pennorth please guvnor !
Ah so many memories

There was this gum called Chinese Fortune Bubble Gum. It was in an orange wrapper and you'd have fortune inside each one. It would be hard as a brick after like 3 minutes, but for some reason I loved it.

Oh now you are talking!
pink shrimps floral gums chocolate limes cough candy
winter mixture imps army and navy tablets pear drops
cola cubes coconut ice jelly beans gobstoppers
aniseed balls pineapple chunks sour apples
I'm lucky enough to have an old fashioned sweet shop in my town that still sells these and hundreds more. All lined up on shelves just as they were in my childhood.
I've pasted the link that pot noodle mentioned.

I just went to a candy store while we were on vacation, I liked them flavored candy sticks, and everyone quit selling them cuz the company was about out of business, so now companies have to buy up so much and hope they can sell them, and if they don't think they can, they won't buy them, that is why it is so hard to find things we like anymore, a couple of my favorites, chick'o'sticks, sour cherries, and burnt peanuts, yum.

Yes! I used to love those sweets that were toffee on the outside and inside there was chocolate!!! Yummy. That moment when you got through the toffee and that chocolatey taste came through.
I also liked pink shrimps - anyone else remember them?

When I was a little girl, my mom would open a can of Sweetened Eagels Condensed Milk and swirl it around a spoon. It is so sweet and so fattening, but I loved it so much! That was my childhood sweet of choice.
I also loved Abba Zabba's.
