I have watched a documentary on the making of the wizard of oz and the "hanging munchkin" is just a myth. You are right, it is in fact a bird. Prolly a stork, but I can't remember what kind they said it was. For some reason the people making the movie thuoght it would be interesting to have birds raoming around. I guess to make the land of oz seem even more mystical or something.

IT's actually just a 'glitch' caused by the 'lighting' and 'editing'.
The bird in the above video link was part of the set and the so-called 'suicide hanging' was just to the right of the bird and you can't see that much on the YouTube video.

This myth has been debunked many times. It is not a hanging munchkin, most explanations are that it is a bird.

before everything i presumed it. Now I dont, like why could a midget be on set over the previous scene? lol additionally, the actors could have considered. In a number of the scenes till now the chook flaps its wings you will see it interior the backround. :D think of if it became into authentic? no one from the solid or group is alive so we would have by no skill knew if it became into authentic!:P lol
