A WEEK to your almost-birthday! Happy, happy....

Yes, aren't there a LOT of these wonderfully descriptive words in the English language that have just been lost entirely here in North America.

Whinging is an old Roman Britannic custom, They the Romans came to Britain and built these damn walls all over the place blocking all the ox cart exits and of course we moaned, whined or whinged about it. They eventually got the Idea we did not like that aspect of Roman civilisation and went back to build temples and churches in Rome. We kept the Walls as a tourist attraction (which the Italians come and view now blocking our M25 motorway(Auto route) and we whine about that but they stay and build restaurants which we like a great deal.

As a Brit. I enjoy a bloomin' good moan, gruble and grouse some may call it a whinge. I call it letting off steam. It is often said that when the brits stop having a grouse something is very badly wrong and must be attended to PDQ.

It's straaaaaange that when Brits on a coach trip outside UK start to sing the "old songs" it is a sign that they are very unhappy. Anywhere else aand they are just enjoying themselves

No you do not use the word "whinge" all by itself because people who "whinge" in actuality "whinge, whinge, whinge" about everything and everybody. Don't you find if you really want to relieve your feelings it is much more satisfying to have a good swear, swear, swear, although I shall not disclose what words give best results?

I looked it up when I saw your question and found it was the same as a 'whine'. So thanks for teaching me a new word today. Keep that song in your heart and take care of yourself.
