Hey guys, I have a pet rabbit and we let him enjoy the day outside in our estate, but when evening comes and it's time to go in, he is almost impossible to catch. Thats when our dog, Prince, the American Eskimo comes in. She catches him and brings hime back in about 5 mins. He's really good at this, but Im pretty shure its not hurting the rabbit, as it lies limp in Prince's mouth, then percedes to playing with my dog afterwards. So, this is ok right?

Did you know that rabbits are nocturnal, so it's a good reason for him becoming more active and avoiding getting caught.
Aside from what has been cautioned about the animal being frightened, rabbits are very susceptible to germs and could become ill from dog saliva via a skin puncture.
Suggest, you grab up bunny before he activates for the night time and let him just play with the dog.

I'd be very wary of doing this. Rabbits can actually be frightened to death, even when whatever is scaring them doesn't actually touch them. Just because the rabbit hasn't become this frightened before and Prince hasn't held him too roughly yet doesn't mean it won't happen at some point. If you must use your dog to get your rabbit back and you are nearly certain the dog is not scaring the rabbit, I would teach Prince to herd the rabbit without ever touching him. It would be best if you could retrieve the rabbit yourself, but herding seems much safer to me than having a predator carry a prey animal.

Some rabbits in the wild, once caught pretend to be dead, if your rabbit is limp this could be a sign that he's scared so best not to do it agen in case he has a fit.

I would say to never leave them alone together!!! It must be scary for your rabbit to be chased by a dog!
