Since the Bush administration knows that when they're out of the Whitehouse, it'll be very difficult for the USA to bomb Iran, simply because no DEMOCRAT president would ever just bomb, without first getting as many countries as possible involved in negotiations, etc., and if the Bush/Cheney administration heads one with what appears to be an already made decision according to some, how would they go about it?

Unless I'm totally wrong, I don't think any Democrat will approve an attack, and most Republicans for that matter, neither, after what happened in Iraq. So how will it be done? What are the special powers a president can invoke? Are these powers irrevocable? Can the president circumvent anything?

I would like to know where you receive your information. No President, current, past, or future is actually FOR nuclear war, this is past even a last resort of action. As for using force to prevent any country from taking this type of action, there will require action, not sitting back allowing countries like Iran to develop weapons of the magnitude they are currently working on. But you are correct a Democratic President, would take too long to take action to attempt to appease every world power out there, which will never happen. The only plus in this situation, the UN is against Iran developing nuclear weapons.

Too many parallels with the Iraq run-up, so I'd say it's just a matter of time before those two idiots attack Iran...which the President can do for a short period without congressional approval.

There is a checks and balance... the President can use the military to do basically whatever he wants for so many days and the Congress can place limitations or even revoke powers with enough votes if they feel he's screwing up.. but I'd have to go look up the exact numbers on how that works.

Correct -- very few Democrats would consider launching a unilateral attack against a country that has done nothing to use except say things we don't like.

No special powers -- either Bush is going to violate yet another federal law -- or he's going to use some blatant ploy to get Congress to authorize an attack -- or he's going to use one of the loopholes in existing federal law...

Bottom line, if Bush wants to attack someone -- he will. Rationality, logic, consequences -- or the cost to America -- those are not his concern.

This President has raped our country and trashed our Constitution. He has retro fitted our laws to cover his crimes up. Still he is in the Whitehouse and Nancy Pelosi is a spinless whimp and won't go after him. I thought our new Democratic Congress was going to rip the Bast*rd a new one but all I hear is empty talk.

If he should have been impeached already, why is it he's still making bad decisions now?

No President can authorize a nuclear strike by himself. Congress declares war.

Cannot be done without approval of the Congress. He does not have to power with out them.

He could declare martial law. But I doubt he would. He could just send troops without an official declaration like what he did in Iraq.
