Do you have a lock on your outside mailbox so only you can get the mail?? My neighboors all seem to have a lock on their boxes the mail lady slides the mail through the slot but you need the key to get your mail..I dont i just open and bingo there it is..Why do people have locks on their boxes?? What are they possibly getting in their mail that im not???

Maybe they get some kind of check in the mail. And some people take other people's credit card applications and screw them over. I don't lock my mailbox.....seems to be a pain in the ***.

No we don't have a lock, we just have a standard mailbox that has the door on the front, that flips open and down... if I received checks in the mail frequently or something I might get a locking mailbox.. but all we seem to get are bills lol.

I have a slot right next to my front door... so theres no option of locks... but maybe your neighbors are ordering smut, I know I would order all the smut I wanted if I had a mailbox with a lock, instead of a slot where the mailman just shoves everything in the slot making everything get stuck, makes me angry...

they are not getting anything different from you the only thing is they think everyone is a thief and will steal their mail. they are so stuck up and selfish why would anyone think there close neighbors would steal there mail. i could see if you were in a rugged neighbor and i could say yes to a lock on my mail box.

I live in an apartment and we all have keys to our mailboxes. Maybe they are just being overly cautious or maybe they have had mail stolen before and are trying to prevent it from happening again.

But I can understand that if you live in a big city or something.
Other people might be afriad that others will go through their mail and get personal information.

I don't, but I used to work for the PO & there is a technology where people can take a check out of the envelope & erase the payee & put their own name in. It's been done.

everyone just has letter slots in the door here, no-one really has mailboxes.
