That's where the problems begin. People try to make us into something they want us to be or we try to make others the way we want them to be. It never works. resentment begins to build. We need to be ourselves and let others be themselves.. Never try to change anyone and never let anyone change you.
Accept others for who they are not who you would like them to be....
Accept things I can not change !!! (others) remember ?
Change the things I can !! (Myself) your job !!!

Change how? Would that be constructive change for me or is it some personality quirk that the other person can't accept?
If you are talking about the kind of change to get off a destructive path, the other person can only offer support. You must be willing to change and it is your job.

Someone can point out my defects and cause me to face consequences but only I can change me. The law can punish me for misbehaving and change my conditions by putting me in jail, but only I can change the mentality that put me there.

Someone can want you to change, but for you to actually do it, you have to want to change yourself. Just like having a drinking problem, you can send someone to rehab, AA and all those other programs, and they can preach to you, and get you off of the alcohol for however long you're in rehab, but in order for you to stay off of it, YOU have to want to stop. If you don't want to, then there's nothing anybody else can do.

That one is totally up to you. Matter of fact if someone else tries most people tend to rebel.

You & only you can change yourself if you have a mind to.
You must desire change. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are one of faith, in Christ, Prayer can help you change.
Absolutely, No one can change you, although some wives think they can change their husbands. LOL. Big Mistake !!
