Anything you do will just demonstrate that the board has been messed up. No professional would go "cheap" at this point, where the final product is to be presented. Another poster board is the only "good" way to go.

If that is not possible, (and, I can't see why not), consider covering the back with some fabric. Fold the edges of the fabric under, so that the fold is at the exact edge of the board. I guess glue would be the best way to attach the cloth to the board.

I'm visualizing this, and it STILL sucks! The judges may look at this and ask themselves "why?" It serves no purpose towards the design.

All the extra work, going into this, or any "painting over" solution is more work than just going out to buy another board.

Maybe a better solution would be to frame the poster board, so that the back does not show.

I'd suggest painting over it smoothly with WHITE acrylic Paint, or you can use what other painters and artists use on their canvases - it's called Gesso. We use it to prime our canvases or paint over old paintings to start over.

OR you can just go out and buy a new posterboard - they don't cost that much...and your poster will probably look nicer....it IS possible that painting over it will come out tacky, and it might crack.....best to just get a new posterboard if you need to start over anyways!
