How difficult is it to open my own catering business out of my home?

starting any kind of business isn't that hard. what is hard about having your own business is actually finding the business. how can you find people that need your business? you have to advertise some way and that costs money, do you have the money to do that and keep doing it. you can have the greatest business idea in the world, or the greatest product in the world, but if people don't know about you or if people don't recommend your business to other people you won't be in business very long. I've had several businesses in the past, so I have a good idea what I am talking about. If you happen to have so much business you don't know how to handle it all, that is a great problem to have, you just have to hire good people to help you. getting to that problem is very difficult and most people don't make it, most people are out of business in a few years.

You will have to use an industrial kitchen to pass the food handling regulations. You will require a business license and liability insurance. You need to know how much to price things and have to have a marketing plan. Small businesses are risky but great opportunities. Do some research with the small business association and make sure that you have all the local permits.

There are a lot of laws and regulations you'll have to follow since you are preparing and serving food - be sure to find out what they are in your area, and conform to them.

well you need a VERY big kitchen.. and HUGE multiple ovens.. and many burners... and deep friers if you want to do things like mozzerella sticks
