It could be all of the above. It could be none of the above. Sexual Predators are not all alike. Some go for girls with self issues. Some don't have preferences. I was a target of sexual abuse when I was 16. I wasn't trying to be "sexy", I just wanted a dad. This person knew me from age 8. I thought he was my "dad". I had no idea what happened. Because this wasn't the only time, even though it also happened with someone else, I thought it was me. I deal with that every day, thinking, maybe it was my fault. Maybe I allowed it because I was scared. I am 22 now and it still bothers me. I don't know what I did. I guess never having a father gave him an incentive to "play that role and do what he did". I don't know if you are or have been a victim but it's not your fault. And you could not have stopped it.

Sexual abuse is about power. 1 in 4 girls will be sexually assaulted, and 1 in 8 boys.
Usually sexual abuse comes from within the family, sexual assaults are usually outside the family.
Girls that dress less conservative are not asking for it, though it doesnt help them either.
Very powerful women can be assaulted, as well as shy women.
In other words, all women can be a target. So we all need to be careful what situations we put ourselves in.
The most popular these days are GHB assaults (your drink gets spiked). So never leave a drink unattended at a party or at a bar.

There is nothing a girl does to make herself a target. That would be putting the blame on the victim.
All blame lays squarely on the predator.
It is usually an act of aggression and power, not lust.

There is nothing that makes a girl a target for it. Just because a girl is wearing tight and revealing clothes doesnt mean that someone can come and take advantage of her. Sexual abuse is done by sick people with sick minds!

I think it's being female.
Seriously.
Dressing in a sexy way will invite attention, but that would probably mostly be the healthy kind. A man (or woman) who is inclined to be a sexual abuser will pick a victim more or less randomly, but may be more inclined to choose girls or boys who appear to be more vulnerable.
Probably the best defense against a sexual predator is the appearance of being able to take care of oneself. These predators are far more likely to attack an easier victim than one who appears more challenging. There are always exceptions.

i dont think anything makes her a target. i was raped by my BOYFRIEND in my sleep and while i was drunk/drugged. (i think he put something in my drink and i passed out) he would do sexual things to me in my sleep and i would remember waking up during the night with him playing with me down there. i'm just a normal girl, although i do get a lot of attention from lads. i dont wear sexy/tight/revealing clothes either, unless im going out clubbing :-S plus i was only 16 at the time.

Dressing in a "sexy" way can make a person view on you different. Like having no respect for them.
But I don't really think there is a way to look for sexual abuse. There are crazy's out there who will abuse whoever.
