Still like Mike Modano, then Chris Chelios. The new wave of Ameriacn born are let by Chris Drury, Ryan Miller & the really young Patrick Kane.

Its debatable who is at the moment. I'm pretty sure Patrick Kane, from Buffalo, NY, will solve that puzzle before long, though. He looks like the real deal in Chicago, and probably the best American born player I've seen in a while.

There are a lot of good players that come from America. Like Matt Cullen, Chris Drury, Chris Chelios, Scott Gomez. Its hard to choose.

At this point there a number of American players who warrant consideration. Among them;
Ryan Miller - Buffalo Sabres
Scott Gomez - NYR's
Chris Drury - NYR's
Brain Rafalski - Detroit Red Wings
Paul Statsny - Colorado Avalanche
My pick would likely be Miller

Ok, why is everyone listing Canadians? If we're talking United States, it's probably Mike Modano. If all of North America, then I'll say Sid the Kid

Mike Modano most goals by an american born player (507 and counting) and he's closing in on most points by an american born player

Mike Modano. He's the leader for goal scoring, and within spitting distance of taking the points lead for Americans.

Apparently many people are forgetting that Wayne Gretzky is Canadian.

I'll go for Livonia Michigan's own Mike Modano. I'll also include Chicago's Chris Chelios.

HCKYFAN: Brian Rafalski is from Dearborn, Michigan, not Massachusetts.
