I bought the xp home edition software, and i lost the cd i have the code underneath my laptop. Can i use any other xp cd and put that code as if that was my cd. or it does not work that way.

Read the Dell User Manual. The Recovery Disk may be on your hard drive.

If not, you must order replacement Recovery disks from Dell.

Store-bought XP will NOT work.

As long as you have the code you are go to go, but make sure u save your files to a external hardrive or a cd or something so u dont lose all your files

No, your good to go. As long as you have a valid xp code you'll be fine.

Just make sure you have the right version of xp i.e. home, pro media ect...
