hi,

I would get the toy that I really, really want, but If it is very expensive, I would ask my mom to help out on paying - because it will not be fair for the person who's offering to pay it all from his money. (If it's way too expensive - If your mother said No - go for the next favorite one that is not expensive. You can also ask for the rain check or gift certificate and wait till the item is on "Sale"). Don't forget to say Thank You.

first question: what is your relation to this person?
if he's someone close to you, choose an item that you really like and would cherish because it came from someone you value, too...

next question: can the person paying for it afford the toy?
if you know the size of his wallet and money does not matter much to him (read: he earns a lot) then i guess it's fine to choose a more expensive one that you would really appreciate and enjoy. but if you have an idea how much he earns and he offers to pay because he wants to please you then choose something not as expensive but you also like....and show him you appreciate the gift.

i guess it's not bad to choose your gift if he offered it....but whatever you choose, don't forget to say thank you and acknowledge his gesture....

The most expensive one I could find...that way, a few days later, I could return it, and get either a gift card to use for my kids' Christmas, or cash.
