I think it is a totally rediculous idea. They are not planning on building it from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific, but only a short distance. Does whomever came up with this idea think that no one will know this and just go around the end of the wall? There are much better solutions. We really need some of the labor coming over. So why not issue temporary but renewable work permits for those who just want to work so they can send money back to their families. That way, we not only get the benefit of their doing jobs that are not going to get done otherwise, but we would also be able to tax the money they make, thus making them part of our tax base. That money could be used to add to all the things that the reactionaries here complain about their using but not paying for...schools, county hospitals, etc.

No I don't agree with it. It's a ridiculous idea. Build a wall? What moron thought that up? Separate North from South? I remember when another wall was built in 1961. It separated East from West. REMEMBER that one? 1,245 people had been killed trying to flee East Germany. Documents confirm that orders were given to shoot and kill attempted defectors, including children. INCLUDING CHILDREN!!
I live in Texas, too. So what? Just because someone doesn't speak English, some idiot wants to build a wall too keep them out? How moronic is that? Do we set up in high towers and shoot children coming across the border now? And make no mistake people, that's JUST WHAT WILL HAPPEN when that damned wall goes up.
What the hell happened to Free Speech? Our ancestors would feel awful damned funny, if some moron had built a wall around Ellis Island and tried to shoot them when they came to this country.

I don't think that building walls is the answer.
It may be a temporary "fix" and may SOUND like a good idea ... but ultimately, I think the problem has to be addressed from a different angle.
It will require lots of manpower and resources if it is really going to have any effect.
It makes for a nice political ploy, but in reality, I don't think that it's going to be effective. People are still risking their lives to float over from Cuba ... what's next: a wall around Miami ???
There's GOT to be a better answer to this problem.

Yes, I don't say this because I hate mexicans, I am part mexican. I was born in Illinois. That is why, come here legally are take your beaner @ss home. At least learn the language I speak english not spanish. I work hard for everything I have. I am not getting it handed to me. Build the wall and put snipers on it. And if you have problems manning the wall because no one wants to shoot a beaner, I will man it, my brother will man it.

I say build an electric fence in the middle of the Great Lakes since most intelligent Canadians are tired of trying to understand what most Americans are saying, especially the ones that wander into our country all lost and such.

Absolutely! Something has got to be done. I know it should be a sign that our country is great since everyone wants to get in here...but there should be some sort of limit.
And those who do get in should be required to speak learn English...no more bending over backward to provide Spanish translating services!
Bring on the wall!

I live in Texas, and I couldnt agree with it more. I am sooo tired of people coming over here and not being able to speak English. Im pretty sure the vast majority of them are here illegally anyhow.

Not really, Its just another way to spend alot of money on something that will not work. They should just enforce the current laws that we have already.
