In our family everyone is invloved. This includes extended family. None of the children are on drugs and 2 are on their way to college. No the village isn't congress or legislation. Though if they got rid of that damn awful No Child Left Behind it would help.

Your village is made up of a congress that can't secure our borders but will waste days on rebutting talking heads from the floor.
My village is made up of family that I know each and everyone of and which ones to watch and which to run out of the area of children.

I don't want your village to get near my children.

It takes PARENTS, preferably two, if possible. The "village" might decide something you don't approve of, like handing out birth control to your 11-year-old.

It takes parents to raise their kids, parents who can discipline their children with out fear of being arrested for child abuse when all they did was swat them on the behind.

The village is schools, churches, government...I always find it amusing when conservatives can't admit that it does take a village.
