We've finally "bought in" to dsl. The dialup ISP ticked us off. Two things. They wouldn't let us send more than 30 emails at a swipe, a real hassle for newsletters for our 100-member gardening group. And mi esposa once received (or actually, *tried* to receive) an email with 12 photos. The ISP wouldn't allow it. It was too big, exceeded the limit. The ISP, on the other hand, would download emails "only in the order they arrived". So all the other emails piled up behind this one. Like for two weeks. So, that was it!

DSL is expensive, yep, but at least our dsl is fast, and a good provider, excellent service, and all that.

Cable TV (and satellite TV), on the other hand, seems to us, a total rip-off! Why pay EXTRA for local channels? Why pay when a full ONE THIRD of the channels (yep, truly counted) are advertising??? (Who wants to watch the Jewelry channel or Ron Popeil or Lose 10-pounds A Day Exercise Machines or summaries of what you COULD be watching if you bought the premium channels? Who wants to pay for FOUR rooms when we need only ONE?)

And the final joke, Cable TV-wise was, when I called to gripe about and investigate the truth of the twice-a-week ads they deliver by mailbox, they replied, it's not available in your area! What a waste of paper!

Yes. I am only 28 and I remember. I remember as a child us only having three channels. I also remember having to get up to turn the channel (because there were no remotes). I played outside all the time. I remember when Nintendo, Sega, etc came out. You have to think a lot of those things were available, but not to the general public (excepts of course Nintendo, the Personal computer (PC)). I would say the majority of people in the world and in the US remember those times. I would venture to say that those who are 25 and below can't. Information Technology has made the most leaps and bounds with in the last 15 years.

No one is forcing you to buy any of these products and no one will die without them. Personally I think the Internet prices are cheap. 1.5MB for 40 bucks is a steal. If you think it is so cheap to create a network, why not start your own and charge less?
