My baby snapper got out for a week and now he doesnt open his eyes! Could this be because he was out of water?

He probably picked up an infection. Most eye infections should be seen by a vet.

This is one possible explanation. The condition while out could have also been less then ideal. I would take the turtle to an experienced herpetologist or vet for a quick check. They would be able to look quickly and rule out infections etc. Good luck.
