I got a vasectomy a couple weeks ago. The doc that did the procedure said to wait at least 4 weeks and have between 12 and 15 ejaculations. The doc that took my stitches out said it doesn't matter how long all that I had to worry about was getting 20 ejaculations.
So which is it? Do I have to wait the 4 week minimum or can I go in after 20 ejaculations? I don't want to have to drop in a cup more than once if I don't really need to.

I am getting mine in a few days. The doctor told me 20 ejaculations.

I have always heard that you must wait 4 weeks and then go back for a fertility test to make sure that your sperm count is very low or zero. The ejaculations are just to flush out the system. Make you you do the return visits, sometime it does not work and you can still father a child.

I had mine done 20 years ago. I am pretty sure they told me 10 ejaculations. I waited 6 months to have my "pipes" checked. I still continued to use condoms for nearly a year after my vasectomy. I felt better safe, than sorry.

I'd go with the most conservative guess if you don't want to do it more than once. Wait 4 weeks and ejaculate 20 times.
