Oh, yes...the Asian Pear. We have had them around for a good many years now...the roundess and firmness of an apple, yet the skin and the moisture level of a pear.
One year, when we had particularly large ones being sold at our neighbourhood store, my daughter bought a couple (think grapefruit sized) and covered them in caramel and chocolate and then rolled them in crushed pecans. This was a dessert made popular by the Oprah Winfrey show that year. To serve, you cut into thin slices and eat....man talk about a SUGAR rush! They were fantastic.

They are very good with medium cheddar cheese. Love them!!
