Ae you sure they're plugged in correctly?
usually there are three little holes, one's green, one's blue, and one's pink, make sure they're plugged into the green one
if that doesn't work, then there are a couple things you can do;if your computer has a sound card then look for the drivers online , do a search using the brand name of the sound card, but if your computer has integrated sound, this could be a bit more complicated. depending on the brand of the computer you have you can call and buy a new drivers cd, this usually comes with operating system and all, but before you do that, try searching in your computer manufacturer's web site. you can also contact me at pabloaviles@hotmail.com if you need any more help

It sounds like the mother board drivers were not installed after you formatted and reinstalled your OS. There should be a disk for the purpose. If you do not have the disk, look on the mother board for a manufacturer and model number. Go to the manufacturer's site, do a search for your hardware, and download and install the latest set of drivers. That should correct the problem.

make sure everything is plugged in.... also check ur volume control, and raise everything up if that does not works, go to the control panel, and go to sounds speech, and audio devices. if u do not know where is that u can use the search .feature that every computer have.

make sure that you have the correct drivers for the card,

make sure that the speakers are plugged in correcly (if not built in),

go to volume control and make sure that it is not too low or on mute
