--The so-called "white tree" at Jena High, often reported to be the domain of only white students, was nothing of the sort, according to teachers and administrators; students of ALL races, they say, congregated under it at one time or another.
--Two nooses, not three, were found dangling from the tree. Beyond being offensive to blacks, the nooses were cut down because black and white students "were playing with them, pulling on them, swinging from them, and putting their heads through them," according to a BLACK teacher who witnessed the scene.
--The three youths accused of hanging the nooses were NOT suspended for three days -- they were isolated at an alternative school for about a month, and then given two weeks probation.

Being from central Louisiana I do know the truth behind this crazy story. I know Justin Barker had nothing to do with the noose incident as well as the noose incident is completely independent from the six thugs beating him. It's funny how the media can come into our state and blow everything out of proportion. It's also odd how Justin, the victim, can be made into a villian and the attackers can be made into celebrities.
Al Sharpton should be ashamed of himself for stirring up a storm of racism in this country. He sickens me. 2D

The bills are immoderate YES, however they must nonetheless be punished... Well now not anymore on the grounds that Mychal Bell has been in prison for nine months already, I feel he has served sufficient time. But so far as the shirts so, I can have an understanding of why they would not desire the scholars to put on them to university however whilst had it been my relative in that role... I often could've worn my blouse to university additionally. EVERYONE concerned in some thing that needed to do with the Jena6 case must been punished... The noose hangers, the white guys that beat up the black boy on the occasion, the person that pointed his gun on the different guys on the comfort retailer, and the 6 that jumped Justin Barker. Do I feel Jena's a racist the city.... Hell sure. Would that experience occurred wherein I reside? Definitely now not.

I do know two truths: I'm sick of hearing about this and I'm sick of people adding new information months and weeks after the fact as if it's makes a difference or is going to change anyones perspective on the situation. Put down the stick and bury the horse already.
The only reason any one gives a hoot about what happened there is because someone said racism and we came a runnin'. If all of the kids had been the same race, no one would still be talking about this. The entire situation was messed up from the start and there is no way that either side can justify their actions. It's a series of events that got out of control arguing about who is "more wrong" than the other is a senseless waste of time. They were all wrong: the school, law enforcement, the town, the kids, the parents no one is coming out of this smelling like roses.
2D - Sharpton didn't stir up a "storm of racism." He merely pointed out a situation that was allowed to exist for far too long. I'm also really sick of people blaming Sharpton and Jackson for this. They can't exploit something that isn't happening and people who make the argument that you're making are just like blk guys crying racism when they get locked up after committing a crime. Just because no one talks about it doesn't mean it's not there.

The tree in question didn't have racial overtones 'according to school administrators and teachers'. However, to town folk it's been a part of the culture at Jena High.
It's in the best interest that the school administration downplay the tree...if they admit it has gone on, it makes them look like apathetic bystanders to a bigger problem.
I'm from Louisiana...I've heard of problems in Jena before but not to this extent.

Yeah I heard from a friend of mine that knows the kids and their parents that the parents were horrified that their kids hung them nooses and Beat their Asses and that they did have to do some community service as well as probation. I still feel that the punishment for the kids that hurt that boy is to harsh for them. Had it happend anywhere else they would have been put in Juvey for a while and probation afterwards with some heavy fins as well as pay the Dr. Bills, Restraining orders would have been granted. I beleave that it was so sensationalized because of the type of punishment that they have received. THe whole thing really sucks. I also heard that the boy that was hurt went to his Class Ring Ceremony, that it really meant alote to him otherwise he would have been home resting. The Media needs good stories so they add and leave out whole lot to make a good story. Blame the Media too!

That's nice, but i'm sure Jena STILL does not treat its minority citizens equally. I'm not stupid enough to believe the entire story was fabricated to single out some hick town that no one knew existed before now.

You are your own worst embellisher! You are a white male now trying to distort the facts.

You white males will continue to distort the facts because of your own self-hatred and inability to get along with your fellow human beings regardless of the color of their skin.
