You got a huge HD and more probally an older Motherboard that can't allocate anything that size.

Older motherboard BIOSes couldn't recognize hard drives larger than 137 GB.

Check for the latest BIOS version on the motherboard manufacturer's website and see if it provides a fix to recognize huge hard drives.

If not, you might try installing a Hard Drive PCI card that could overcome this limitation.

Up grade your OS to SP2. That should clear all problems. But be advised, if you don't already have SP2 you will need to download a ton of security patches after you install the service pack. To start these downloads, go to Start/All Programs/Windows Update.

You should always keep your system patched and up to date so that you are better protected from malware and viruses.

There is a known issue with XP that prior to SP2 only 137 gb of drives were viewable. If you update your OS to SP2 then it should be fine, and then XP will see the whole amount.
