When you say computer is too slow to open, you probably
mean that its takes time for the softwares to be loaded. You
might be having many softwares loaded and these automatically start up when you on the computer and delay its
start up.Go to start, then run, type "msconfig" then open startup, uncheck all the boxes for the softwares like msn, yahoo, real player, and many others you dont want to use when you start the computer. This will help in faster loading.
I also increased the RAM of the computer to more than 512.
Avg free edition is great, doesnt need any renewal or payment
like norton.I use it and havent had any problems so far.Trial and error is a great teacher.Good luck.

Yes, I would delete Norton, I am another one that has and I have tried nearly all the free ones and always come back to AVG antivirus and antispyware. You just download the free AVG antivirus and it updates itself and does a scan every day, you can go into scheduler and change the time of when it downloads and/or scans if you dont want it to scan when you switch your computer on. Dont forget you have to go to Norton's website to uninstall Norton properly, just type in browser 'how to uninstall Norton' and your away then. Good luck!

I would definitely recommend AVG, its a very efficient utility and free as well. If you have slow opening of files and folders, diagnose the HDD for the silent performance killer- file fragmentation, if your analysis says its pretty bad, you need to run some of the disk tooks in the system like Diskcleanup etc.

that is the good idea but if you don't update the AVG regularly then it won't work properly and the another rare tips for windows that is the when you want to scan your computer then you do some work
that is go to my computer properties then go to system restore and check off the "turn off system restore" restart your computer and then scan your system and after the scanning you check on the "Turn off system restore".
