Conservative only pull out the abortion issue when talking to a religious right convention, otherwise you hear very little about it from most candidates. The Repub candidates know it is best not to rise the issue unless pressed because the majority of the US is pro-choice.

not so...in fact, it wasn't until the Christian Coalition that the GOP eventook a a stand on abortion..and when they moblilzed that voter base, they started winning the majority of elections. They also have since alienated that base, and the Religious right didn';t show up in the numbers they once did...they have been disenfranchised by the right, fort doing NOTHING about gay marriage, and NOTHING about abortion. NOW, the GOP is trying to re mobilize that base to try and garner enough votes to win. The problem will be when they once again do nothing to outlaw gays and abortions...they will ose that voter base once and for all. THEn they will be forced to uphold party values...CONSERVATISM. Hey a girl can hope, right?

I do not want to ban abortions, .... not as a matter of legislative option. But what I do want to see happen is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade and Casey v. Plannend Parenthood because those decisions are flat-out lies about the U.S. Constitution. I don't care whether or not that view is "unpopular." The Constitution -- and the key issue of telling the truth about it -- matters far more than a public opinion poll. As far as I'm concerned, the people who tell pollsters that they are opposed to overturning Roe do not know what the heck they are talking about. They simply do not understand the Constitution. They do not understand that the Court lied about the Constitution. Such people need to be educated, not pandered to.

It's not about being on the popular side of an issue, it's about being right.
We need a leader, republican or democrat who will stand up for what is right.

Yes, they realize that. However, some conservatives feel so deeply for the exterminated potential humans that they speak against it regardless the consequences.

No, I do not believe that most Americans endorse abortion. I feel that there are emergencies and case by case basis that I would endorse. As for the attitude of "Durn I am pregnant, guess I will go down to the clinic and get an abortion before I get my nails done" is wrong.

Care to give a reliable source of where you get this? Besides, we like to stick by what we say, not flip-flop to something else.

I think they are. They're also toning down the anti-evolution rhetoric, because I think they've realized that the vast majority of Americans think they're idiots when they bring it up.
