Ou freezer door isn't sealing shut anymore...and we had to defrost it because of all the frost in there from the thing not closing right.

Is there any way to fix the seal?

We recently moved, so maybe it is unlevel now..although this started before we moved. We can definitely check that out...and maybe use a bungee cord if we have to for the time being.

Sometimes on older refrigerators the door seals become loose or worn. If you place a dollar bill along the corners and the middle of the top and bottom and both sides does the dollar bill slide out easily or is there some resistance-if it slides out with little resistance its worn out. The refrigerator door seal should provides a little resistance when you open the door if you don't feel any then its worn out. You will need the model number to get the right door seal. If you attempt the repair yourself when you remove the door seal you must place it in hot water for about 10 minutes to soften it up to make it pliable when you install it on the door. If you put it on right out of the box it will not go on right. If you have a heat gun then it makes it allot easier too, heat guns look like a hair dryer on steroids. You can check the price of the door gaskets and get the correct part number by checking out apdepot.com using your model number...good luck

Just buy a new seal.

There are a few things you can try as quick fixes but if I were counting on the freeze to stay cold and not spoil or ruin the contents (think of the cost should a quick fix not work or the possibility of serving up food that could make your family sick), I would just go to the hardware store and get a new seal. They don't cost much and are not that hard to install.

Is it a problem with the door or seal. If the door is closed by it is not sealed(will not hold a dollar bill between the seals and side) you can replace the seal.. The rubber gets old and stiff. See someone who carries that brand if you don't have book that came with that freezer.

If you moved it around when you defrosted it...it may now been un-level...which will cause the door to not seal.

If all else fails....use a rubber strap to hold it closed....or do like my dad did years ago....put a lock hasp on the freezer. Put it on so when the door is closed all the way and seal is compressed...the hasp will loc into place.

Do you have too much weight in the door shelves of your fridge. Can you adjust the feet so the door self closes, or use those plastic riser cups to slightly lift the front up
