I can't boot my computer, help!?

Question

I press the switch, but nothing happens.
When computer is running, the switch blinks with grenn light, but this time it blinks with orange light.

I'm using Dell Dimension 5100
Should I call the repairman? How much will it cost?
Or do you guys know how to fix this problem?

Try unpluging your computer from your electrical outlet and plug it back in after a few minutes.

Follow these steps;

1.Try unplug and the replug all your cables specially monitor and power supply.
2.if step 1 doesnot work, try open the case of the cpu and doube check that all the data cables r attached strongly with the ports of the mother board specially the hard disk data cable.
3.If 1 & 2 doesnot work, get to BIOS and check yur boot sequence is set to hard drive(Dont mess up with BIOS if you have no experience with it; it can be devastating for your pc)
4.The last option is to get a bootable operating system cd and try reinstalling the operating system

If none of these work, its time to go to your pc vendor.

The orange light is telling you that the monitor is not receiving a signal from the video card. Make sure that the cable from the monitor to the computer has not come loose and, if you have a stand alone video card, be sure that it has not come loose from it's slot.

If the above does not cure the problem, repost your question stating that you have tried the above, but you still have problems.

Amber lights on a power button usually indicate power supply failure. Purchase a new one and make sure its the same or compatible with your computer.
