yeah, I am tired of it. I don't even have a copy of it in my collection, though I like jj cale (call me the breeze is a nice album). I don't know which clapton cover you listened to, but the one I just heard isnt oatmeal. But it still isn't a good song.
I just can't think of a song that really captures the essence of cocaine. Maybe the Eagles came closest on "hotel california" The momentarily flash of euphoria that is so short as to be nearly illusory, replaced by emptiness and longing. None of the songs I've heard about it talk about the blood in each speck, the many people whose lives were destroyed in one way or another. How this ever became a "glamour drug" is beyond me. Smack is much more honest, at least.

I LOVE JJ CALE. Call me the breeze.
JJ Cale did a superior job on that song. Eric's version was oatmeal.

not me--I knew from years ago this was written as an ANTI-DRUG song. And of course I like Eric's version the best!
