- credit cards
- banks

- magazines
- if your kids are in school (if you have kids)
- if you are in business and you use your home as your business address, then your suppliers and partners especially those that sends you checks
- DMV
There's no one way to do it. But when you apply for a change of address form and you ask the USPS to redirect your mail to you, any mail sent to your old address will be sent to your new address for 6 months; and magazines for 3 months.
So any mail that you feel you will still want to receive, you need to notify them of your change of address

You should tell everyone. Get your credit report and that has contact numbers on the last page for each creditor. You will need your account numbers and most will take the change over the phone. If you have any magazine subscriptions, don't forget to change those as well. Make sure you tell work and they in turn tell your health insurance. Call all your doctors and dentists so that your reminders go to your new address. Congratulations on the move. Good luck.

You can send out New Address cards to family members and friends with your new address and contact information.
You could also e-mail creditors and others, or watch for bills and mail that have been forwarded and make sure you send them new address info.
If you can, talk to the person who moved into your old address (or your previous landlord) and work with them to notify you if mail is received at the previous address. Some correspondence such as IRS, etc. only happens annually, so you may lose track of these even if you do mail forwarding because these only last for 1 year I think. You may have to renew address forwarding.

You start by filling out the change of address form, but keep in mind that the post office does not forward your mail indefiantley. Make a not each time a letter or bill arrives that has been fwd form your old address, then make a point of fillling out the "change address" section that always comes with bills. If it a letter from a friend, reply to it and include your new address. Notify all of the major contributors toy our daily mail, your credit card companies, life health/auto insurance, etc. Then go to a cute stationary store or find one on-line nad order some "we have moved" cards, that reflect your personality and send them to everyone in your addres book, and look up the addresses for important people, people that have done favors for yu, babysitters, doctors, lawyers, friends, family in-laws, exteneded family, old neighbors etc and send them one. Basically if they are important enough to make your Holiday card list then notify them
Once you get at lesst semi settled in get on the computer and join PLAXO, it is deigned to alert you of peoples birthdays anniversaries etc You can add all of your PC addresses to plaxo and it will send out notices to all of your contacts of your move and will give you the option of how much info you want to share with each group in your on-;line address book. SOme will be privy to all info, home address, home telephone number, etc. others wll be resricted to business addreses business phone numberd etc. You can give your personal cell to some and not all. It has many features and as a bonus to each person PLAXO notifies on your behalf, they will also invite them to join PLAXO, whic makes life so much more simple. This is an awesome program, very inexpensive. It was such a time saver for us when we moved.
Once you get ALL sttled in, host a house warming party, invite old friends, neighbors, co-workers and new ones as well. It is a good way to introduce yourself to your new neighbors, and in the meantime all tough not required) most people folllow etiquite and bring a gift to a housewarming party, so you will not only get to know new people, you will undoubtedly be happy at the end of the evenign with all of your new items that are useful around the home.

Yes, tell all your creditors so you don't end up missing a payment.
The Post Office gives you change of address forms to mail out to people. Or you can make your own with postcards.
