I work in Procurement for a major corporation, and need to give an overview of my specific area (print & marketing) to the rest of my department (200 people).

Does anyone have any interesting / novel ideas or themes that would go beyond the standard Powerpoint presentation?

I've seen other people make a home movie about themselves, and someone else themed their presentation around "Who wants to be a millionaire?".

These were both very good memorable presentations.

Look to the great works of art. For example films, what were the classics? Take a line from one of these and substitute a word in them with something from your work.

You could prepare people by getting still shots from these famous films and just putting these where the people will notice them a few days before your presentation takes place.

Powerpoint can be jazzed up with sound and movement, but I guess you know this.

I would go with a theme like Family Fortunes or Millionaire and get the croud involved by asking questions.

Good luck.

best tip - don't use Powerpoint.

It's so overrated and most people have sat through countless powerpoint presentations, they'll be really grateful that you're not subjecting em to it yet again.

next to Excel, Powerpoint is the most used for no good reason peice of software ever.

These types of presentations are insufferable to the vast majority of people who are subjected to them. I would put together a bullet list of what you do, and reference other documents for anyone who wants more information. Keep it to 5 minutes, and offer coffee and bagels to anyone who manages to sit through it.
