To those who say guns are bad and robbers still won't rob their homes because of other means to defend against robberies.

Robbers:
Please bring ear plugs to deal with the alarm system and a bag of 10 sirloins to cope with mean dogs.

Just fyi.... I own guns... i'm not anti gun... However...consider this - less than 1% of people whose homes are broken into, and own guns, ever get the chance to defend themselves using a gun. So even if you have a gun, the chances you will be able to use it in self defense are very small....but it's still nice to have. A more effective security would be a large dog.

I don't have a security system, but I do have signs that say "this home is monitored by ADT", and a fake camera in the front doorway.

I don't believe having a gun is of much help in defense. I think it is much more likely that my disabled child might hurt himself or someone else. I don't understand why it has to be "pro-gun" or "anti-gun". Why doesn't the NRA really support logic? I.E. let's work to get rid of all the "Saturday Night Specials" ( guns that are just as likely to blow up in your face as hit anything generally in the way of the target.) or assault weapons- do you really want to blow the deer into little pieces?I agree with you I wouldn't put up your sign. But I would think a sign saying "LARGE GUN COLLECTION" might also produce a burglary.

They will have the same odds... people tend to rob homes when no one is home (or at least they think no one is home).. they don't want the cops called on them after all...

by the way, this isn't a knock against owning guns.. I own plenty.

I would but then I'm a heavy gun owner and user and I'd love to catch some of the liberals in the act of stealing. It would be almost like a turkey shoot.

In the state of Virginia, there is only one place where it is illegal to carry a gun, the campus of Virginia Tech, site of the worst gun crime in US history.

In Washington DC there is a total gun ban. You are more likely to get shot there than in Baghdad.
