Unless you really need the portability, I'd go with the iMac.

More screen real estate is always good when you're working with any kind of images.

Welcome to Mac! You're gonna love it here!

Of course, you COULD go with the MacBook Pro and add a 20, 23 or 30 inch Apple Display. That would give you the best of both worlds. If this seems like a viable option, I'd check out the Special Deals section on the Apple Store online. Right now they have a 20 inch display - totally refurbished by Apple - for $499. It originally cost $1300.

I've had great luck with every refurbished product I've ever bought from Apple. In fact, you might even look at the refurb MacBook Pros there too.

Hi, if u don't need portability then I say get the iMac, its way more powerful then the MacBook Pro. An iMac is an awesome computer believe me u won't regret it. OS X Leopard is coming out soon so make sure u get that. I hope I helped.
Good Luck and take care!

Go to a local Apple Store and take EACH one for a test drive, ask LOTS of questions and then decide for yourself.

Only you know what your needs are.

Dont bother with a mac. They are overpriced peices of over hyped junk and the fail easily. Get a much better PC for the same price with Vista.

If you are going to do graphic design, go with the larger screen. You need more real estate to run Photoshop/Illustrator/ect.
