I have a vacuum I bought 5 months ago with receipt but no original packaging that quit on me. Can I take it back? Also, I cheeked their stock and they don't carry it anymore...so I guess I have to get a different one? Anyone know the return policy? I'm in a small town and don't want to call and ask about returning a vacuum and them say "no" and then they'll know it'sme if I go in again.

Interesting. I had a vacuum I purchased at Wal-mart that was about six that quit working (fortunately I had the receipt). I did not have the box. I took it back (and as in your case, they did not have that exact model). They took mine back, but I had to take all the new things from the box and leave them the box. Actually, I was pleased with the exchange. They did not give me any grief of anything. GOOD LUCK! (Oh, and I also live in a small town ~ population about 700).

Well 5 months is a long time I'm pretty sure depending on what it is you want to return the most is 3 months but there are ways to get around it. Your best bet is to just take it there but don't tell them you have the receipt or they will just say no since it has been 5 months. You can return things without the receipt but they use your drivers license because you can only return so many items every 6 months. It's worth a shot.. Good luck

Why not call a Wal-mart in another area or see if there is a 800 number.

Personally I think you are stuck with the vacuum, especially since they don't carry that item any longer.

Next step is to see what the manufacturer's warranty is. If it is for more than 6 months then contact the manufacturer and see where it can be repaired since Wal-mart does not have it any longer.

Clean it up, take it in, with the receipt, tell them that you have only used it a few times, and it died......
Take it from there.......
