Try plugging it into a regular monitor if you have the port. Though that will not make your laptop very portable....it is though a quick fix to get your files and what not. After that I would just get a new one,the cost for fixing the screen between parts and labor is not going to be cheap, prob about the same price you can get a new one for.

Check out www.tigerdirect.com for a good deal on a laptop

Hope this helps!!

First check your warranty for coverage. It is covered? OK!

If not, an external monitor will plug into the laptop in the (usually) blue 'D' plug on the back edge of the laptop that is often covered by trim. Turn the laptop off, plug in the monitor, power up the monitor, then power up the laptop. The monitor works? OK!

If the replacement monitor fails to function at startup, there are two options. First, look at the laptop keyboard to see if there are blue- or green-marked keys. These keys will have icons like batteries, monitors, volume controls that are activated by first pushing a special keyboard key in the different color that is usually marked with Fn or FN, meaning Function, then the monitor key in this situation. These FN keys are hardware keys unique to the machine. The monitor works? OK!

If the monitor would not start automatically and there are no FN keys, then you will have to enter the BIOS at start up and enable the external monitor there. Usually an attached monitor will work in BIOS. The monitor works? OK!

If not, you need to seek experienced help from your laptop manufacturer.

You now have a working computer. This will allow you to save your information from the laptop to a storage drive. It will also give you another desktop PC, as this laptop is never going to be 'portable' again.

The most expensive component of a laptop is its monitor. It is also the hardest to replace because the part has to match exactly for mounting, wiring and technical specifications. Replacing it is probably going to cost more than a new laptop computer.

The next laptop you buy should include purchase of a screen warranty to cover any aspect of screen failure including breakage caused by dropping the computer. This last is my eternal advice to laptop buyers- insure the screen for replacement for as long as possible.

Now you know!

The few laptop monitors/screens that I have replaced cost around 150 to 200 $. The labor should run about 1 hour.

If you have a VGA connector on your machine you should be able to use just about any monitor, but you may need to change a setting in the BIOS first and that could be a problem if you can't see all of your attached screen.

I don't suppose you got any kind of accident insurance for it, right? If you go to Ebay, you can find a complete LCD screen assembly for your model laptop. To connect it, you just have to go to the manufacturer's website, look-up keyboard removal and LCD screen removal. It's not that hard as long as you don't have to open up the screen itself to replace parts, which you do not. Usually would involve removing hinge covers and screws to remove. Then popping out or taking screws out to release the keyboard, and simply disconnecting cable under keyboard that connects to screen. Then doing it in reverse to reconnect newer screen. Process would probably take about ten minutes. If you don't want to deal with that, just connect an external monitor to the video port on the back of the laptop. When you power on, press Fn and numbered key with picture of monitor on it and it should show on external monitor.

I wouldn't even bother trying to fix the screen takes forever and costs as much as a new laptop just go to DELL.COM or UK and buy a new one.
Or you can plug a monitor into the back of the laptop and still use the laptop.

To be honest with you.. it would be easier and cheaper to just buy a monitor to plug into the back of it.

Fixing a laptop monitor is expensive and hard work; it would probably cost you about half of what you paid for it.

i won't be able to convey myself to criticize the guy you put in stitches. What you're speaking approximately demands extremely state-of-the-artwork hardware. there's no longer a conversion equipment for you pc. in case you have a splash workstation engineering adventure, you need to in all probability pull this off, regardless of the undeniable fact that it sounds very very such as you're actually not a working laptop or workstation engineer or education to be one. in case you like the function you have defined you will could desire to invest in a pill pc.
