My current little baby (almost 9 weeks, now) does the same thing. As long as the croaking noises are VOCAL, and not BREATHING, this is just how she settles down.

You'll see your pedi in a few days, anyway, for a two week checkup, but you can always call and see if you can have that early, to have them listen to her lungs. If her BREATHING is clear, and she's not CONSTANTLY or even most of the time breathing fast, this is just how she is.

Newborns make a lot of noises and it is totally normal- they don't have a deep sleep like we do so when they are "in between" sleeping stages they make noises and they get really loud sometimes but it is not a cause of concern. That is why some doctors recommend to not sleep w/ the baby in your room so that YOU can get some sleep! My daughter is 3 mo. old now and we have her bassinet next to our bed, I can tell you that I used to wake up w/ every noise she made in panic until I realized that she was okay~ good news: as they get older, they sleep better and they have deeps sleeps like we do so they make less and less noise as they age! as long as you follow the SIDS rules for newborns she'll be okay
Good luck and congrats on your new baby!

it is normal for their breathing patterns to be irregular...my daughter is four weeks old now and she still does that occasionally...her pediatrician told me that the "croking" noises you describe are perfectly normal, especially right after eating...he said it would probably last a couple of months...but like i always tell people, call your doctor if you need extra reassurance...congratulations and best of luck to you!!

This is totally normal. My doc said that newborns can sometimes stop breathing for up to 8 seconds and then breathe quickly.

When my daughter was just born, her breathing sounded like she has asthma. The doctor said it was just the extra fluid in her lungs.
It sounds like your baby is just trying to get rid of all the extra fluid also.
