There is a lot of bad PR associated with University Of Phoniex. You can still get a number of good distance learning degrees and programs and if they are recognized and accredited by AACSB , it will help you in your professional life as well.
Try to avoid the "for profit" online schools, as the degrees from those will not help you anyways, and your efforts, time and money invested wont be fruitful.

What is my opinion? I think you would be better off getting "I have a bad education" tattooed on your forehead. It would have the same effect and be a hell of a lot cheaper.
U of P is a For Profit Corporation and was recently fined a record $9.8MM for sleazy recruiting practices. They have been investigated for padding their placement numbers. Companies like Intel refuse to pay for their employees to take classes there, because they feel that they lack rigor.
Employers do not respect a degree from U of P for two reasons. One is that they feel that the courses are not up to the quality of real universities. The other is that they have no standards. They accept almost everyone who applies -- so employers do not know what they are getting.

They are in it for the money, and a degree from them won't help you in much.
