i have a lexmark z605 but no installation disk. i have tried to download the driver many times but i get a popup saying it timed out or its not a win 32 application. i have gotten it from lexmark.com for windows xp. but cant seem to get anywhere with it. does anyone know why i cant download the driver?

There are two choices. Try the Unified driver, if you haven't already:

If your connection times out, try downloading it on a friend's PC, this may be an issue with your ISP or you may have malware.

Sounds like your windows installer might need to be updated. Not a Win32 application means the computer is not understanding the download, one thing I would try is updating your windows installer.

Has it done this with any other thing you have downloaded or just this?

You tried downloading the drivers from lexmark.com?

Keep trying to download from the lexmark site sounds like they are possible doing work on their servers or if you are trying to download on a dial up connection it will time out in some cases
