All my life I have wanted a school in the arts and so many times I have gotton close and something happens either with the place i'm using or money . I feel like I have a gift that can help change the lives of million of children and help them to grow up to be better, stronger and stay off the street. The arts changed my life and I know the way I teach it, it can do the same for so many children and young adults out there. I 'm starting to feel now like maybe this is a childhood dream because I keep facing so much opposion and I want to start my family now and I thought by the time im 30 I would have established this school and can devote time to my family. But im 30 now and all I did was have a bunch of almost there's. How do you no when to give up?

I'm 29 and my dream is to open an dance studio. It has been my dream since I was a child dream, it's my oldest dream, that and being a mom. I'm not yet a mom or a studio owner, I haven't even had any "almosts" but I'll be 30 in January and it's still my dream.
I must stress the Business Plan. This will keep you focussed on ALL your costs & things you may forget about, etc. You basically follow a business plan as you would a checklist at the supermarket. That's all it is.
And you're right kids don't need another candy store as much as they need structure and discipline like you are trying to offer. Please don't give up. I'm only returning to my second year of college in January to finish working on my business degree. I'm sure I won't have my own studio for at least 6-10 years. Yes, there are times I feel it will be too late by then and what about starting a family, but dreams are what keep us alive and goal oriented. Afterall, our goals are our dreams and they are obtainable and in most cases we have to work very hard. Dust yourself off and try again! -(Aaliyah).
If you give up what will you have to look forward to?
You are strong in heart, you need to focus on being strong in mind. Let the heart and mind work together, there's nothing like team-work.
Also, if you are starting too big then take a step or two back, downgrade a few things and prioritize. Every baby wants to run but they all have to crawl first. Maybe you're moving too fast and need to slow down, or maybe 100 other things. Give your statistics a look over and re-weigh your pros & cons, decide what you can do without and start crawling!
Yes there will be competition (there always is).
I wish you the best of luck.

You won't ever know unless you try! It is true what they say: you only fail if you fail to try. I would say go for it! It sounds like you have a great idea. Sit down and come up with a business plan. Write down all your ideas, even the ones you are not so sure about. Keep writing and coming up with a plan. Find out where you could open your school, who would benefit, fees charged, etc... You will have ALOT of research to do. It may take you a while to get it all organized. But don't give up! You can still start your family AND establish your school. Perhaps there is someone you trust who can assist you in coming up with your business plan? You will also need to figure out financial issues as well as advertising. I would just go for it. If you are confident and plan well, more than likely, it will be a success! Good luck!

Having an idea is a fantasy, having a plan to implement that idea is something real. Without a plan, it's a dream.

When you say "change the lives of millions of children" you are in the fantasy realm. But you can probably change some lives.

Have you gotten the education you'd need? Have you worked through what it would take to establish a school, both financially and also just what you'd have to have, how you'd get students, how much you'd charge, what types of programs you'd provide?

You could teach without having your own school, and still do much of what you want as far as influencing people.

Good luck.

If you've got the ardour, skillability, and possibility, then a dream can end up a fact. Perhaps you had been establishing out too quick. If I had been you, I might begin out through simply fitting an artwork trainer within the public tuition procedure first. That method, you've got a legitimate certification that backs up something you do. You could make simply as a lot change within the public tuition procedure as you'll be able to proudly owning your possess artwork tuition. Then, you'll be able to be getting a constant paycheck, even as pursuing your dream, and perhaps you'll be able to begin saving a few cash to open that tuition of yours.
