cats wait in a lump,
jump in streak.
cats, when they jump, are sleek
as a grape slipping its skin-
they have technique.
oh, cats don''t creak
they sneak

to what does the poet compare cats' sleek jumping? Is it a good comparison? Why?

Please do help me with this little piece of HW. I'm finding it difficult...

The author compares the cat's jump to a grape leaving it's skin. It's a pretty good comparison, as it creates a vivid visual for me.

The poet compares the sleek jumping cat to a grape slipping it's skin.

I cannot say if it is a good comparison, I never was one for imagery and poetry. But in my nonpoetic opinion, it is not a very good comparison.

The poet is comparing the cat's leap to a streak. You know what a streak is. What are the qualities of a streak? You've seen cats jump before. Does that have anything in common with the streak? Is it a good comparison?
