No consistent strike zones, bad calls on the field, etc.

I'm not looking for excuses. Boston outplayed the Indians fair and square.

They missed the call at second on the steal he was safe but we had the advantage of slow mo replay it was close but he was obviously safe on the replay.

Other than that it was umpired pretty good.

Please don't be like the dems and make an excuse for the loss your team played well my team just played better.

Unfortunately, I think they pretty much exemplified what major league umpiring has become. For all the talk of a uniform strike zone back when Alderson was in the MLB front office, the umpires have again gone their own way with deciding what should or shouldn't be called.

As for the calls on the field, it's disappointing to see so many missed. It happened again last night when Lofton should have been called safe at second on the single where he was thrown out by Ramirez. The ump was in decent position, but just missed the call.

Like I said, though, this isn't anything out of the ordinary. It's been going on all season. I think a lot of Padres fans are still convinced Matt Holliday didn't touch home plate, and it sure looked to most of us like he shouldn't have been called safe. And in that same game, a Garrett Atkins hit was ruled a double when it probably should have been a homer. The umps are doing their best, but it sure hasn't been all that great.

"When your at home you get the calls your way!"

I mean I do have to admit they DID NOT tag Kenny Lofton in time going into second.

But you gotta remember all umpires actually have a different strike zone. Some are wider, some are longer vertically....

You miss calls, It's part of the game. It's one game I believe that we should never ever ever bring in Instant Replay. I can see it now....

"The ruling at the plate has been reversed... the ball indeed did go right over the middle of the plate and the walk is now a STRIKEOUT, Can you please reset the scoreboard from 1 outs to 2 outs."

I agree we were outplayed, but come on. Kenny Lofton was safe by at least four inches last night. All pitches for Boston were strikes and the Tribe would throw the same pitch and it was a ball. Grady Sizemore hit a homer that was called foul on Saturday. I'm starting to believe that organized sports are a joke anymore. It's sad.

They were Ok. They were no worse than Larry Barnett and the crew that umpired the 1975 series between the Red Sox and the Big Red Machine.

Does the name Ed Armbrister ring a bell ?

I agree. There was more than a few bad calls behind the plate in big game situations. I don't think either team got it any better than the other. I just can't stand it when the strike zone is inconsistent.

I've said this before the refs in sports stink today.
When ever I watch a game on TV it is reason to coplain outloud they umpires and refs are terrible and getting worse.

my other question was not done ad nauseum since Ichiro was just seen YESTERDAY. And how is this question of yours not some lame brain question? You would think you'd be decent to another Cleveland fan but you want to insult me on another post. The bad call belonged to Joel Skinner. Nuff said, my "fellow fan."

As I have said in the past....unless you have been there and done it--don't judge the officials on calls that are "bang-bang" and remember umpires see the strike from a diffeent angle than what you and the cameras see (and only once--NOT in slo-mo HI-DEF replay)
