I don't know of any free patterns but here are some free alphabets so you can make one

Try this. Buy an inexpensive pressboard open/closed sign.
Lay it on a table and place your plastic canvas on top of it. Use a medium tipped permanent marker to trace over the letters of the sign. You can stitch the letters first and then do the background. Be sure that your open and closed canvases are the same size. Place them wrong sides together an whip stitch all the way around them.
