Dont try the tall box trick. At age 6, she'll get into into just because.
I'm sure you have a dark little storage somewhere. At age 6, your daughter will likely still be scared to go into it. If you dont have a dark spot, become a little more messy and make some boxes with your summer stuff now. You'll be able to use the space behind the summer stuff for Santa. Her curriousity wont be as great if you've planned ahead and had the front boxes in place for months.
You may also want to invite someone to show up in a Santa Suit to give away the presents. Kids get a kick out of having a special visit from one of Santa's helpers.
Hope these ideas help.

I started having the same problem when my son was 4. I would buy his presents only one or two at a time and wrap them up either at the gift wrap station or as soon as i got home then I placed them in the closet that I keep my cleaning supplies he never went in that closet plus the shelf was too high for him to reach.
Depening on the size of the gift and you house some other ideas might be:
*under the bed place a blanket or other box in front to hide it from view.
*place a lock on walk in closet so she cant open the door.
*Basements, unless its a finished basement as kids usually won't venture down their alone.
good luck keeping them hidden, but my best advice is wrap them as soon as possible that way if she finds it she won't be able to guess. Although I know this can be hard to find the time with a 6 year old running around.

Well I only have to hide a few for the grand kids but the clothes hamper works well.Or under the sofa, have done that a time or two. Also the Christmas containers should be empty by then so they will never look there. My daughter does that and its worked so far.

I lock up what will fit into my hope chest then keep the key with me at all times. I have also hidden them in boxes of other stuff I have stored in the basement. I just make sure to stack the boxes with the ones with gifts in them in the middle of the stack. That way, it's much harder for the kids to get into. I have also hidden small, lightweight item in the drop ceiling in my basement. I just slid them on top of a tile. Just remember which one or else finding them is a pain! I try to wrap presents as soon as I bring them home. I usually buy a certain design of wrap for each child so I can tell which ones belong to who. If the presents look tampered with after I wrap them, I tell them they don't get them. This usually scares them enough to leave them alone.

below the tree. do no longer positioned labels on the equipment till Christmas so as that they do no longer understand which of them are theirs. My son is 13 and hasn't figured his out ahead of time on account that all of us started doing this. How: Use a distinctive form of wrapping paper for each guy or woman, then tell them Christmas morning. Or, This 300 and sixty 5 days I labeled each and every modern-day with basically a letter from the alphabet and am holding a catalogue of which letters bypass to which guy or woman.

i used to keep them in lay-away at walmart until the week before christmas, but now that they've stopped using it...i don't know what i'll do. when i had my mini van, i used the under seat storage compartments. i just went shopping while my kids were in school or over at grandma's playing. then when i was in the parking lot of the store, i would go ahead and put the items in the storage area. i left them there until christmas eve, and the girls were none the wiser.

I've done the closet, trunk of my car, crawl space in the attic, basement under the stairs, top kitchen cupboards behind boxes of food work good if they are small and not into cooking and getting in the cupboards, in my craft supplies, at work, at my mom's or sister's, under the bed, behind a piece of large furniture.

We have a set of luggage. Since we hardly ever go anywhere I put the gifts inside the luggage and the kids never think that there is anything inside except another suitcase.

am having the same problem this year, in our other house we used to put them all in our en suite bathroom that the kids never used and to be on the safe side we turned the lock from the bedroom side using a coin, we have moved house and I think this year it might have to be the loft - a pain but no other choice
