To those who oppose the Dream Act, I want to ask you.

The Dream Act will legalize young people who were brought to the US as a minor. It will open a door of opportunity to those who received education here and have assimilated to the American culture. They are going to be your future tax payers.

Under what condition, would you be able to accept the Dream Act of any other amnesty?

What part of the bill you cannot accept, and why?

The Dream Act is a great bill. It is one of compassion. It will bring many people living in the shadows out and give them full rights as American citizens. Anyone who opposes it is a barbarian and does not fully understand how making hard working people citizens will do for this country.

Shouldn't we be helping our own citizens first. I myself am struggling just to make it and save money to pay for school. I know a lot of other people who are having the same struggles I am. Though the Dream Act is a very generous one I do believe we an obligation to our own people first.

I oppose it, in part, because it’s yet another burden on the taxpayers. These people who are in our country illegally will qualify for financial aid--aid that will be paid for by the American citizens.

My own son will start college next year. He won’t qualify for any financial aid, because we make too much money. I can accept that, BUT we can’t afford to save any money for him either, in part because our taxes are so damn high--taxes that are paying for tons of services for illegal immigrants.

My state has a very high number of illegal immigrants, and I just feel like Americans are being pushed to the side so that illegal immigrants can be provided for.

For example, my children were in an ‘acclerated learning’ program at school. A program that they NEEDED because they weren’t being challenged at all in class (which I blame on the lowering of the educational standards). But the funding got cut because the schools needed to greatly increase the funding for the ‘English as a second language’ program. So, my children were forced to do without what they needed, so that the children of illegal immigrants could have what they needed.

And on top of that, the schools in my areas are dangerously over-crowded, due in large part to the children of the illegal immigrants, but the American taxpayer has the burden of educating them, so they're constantly raising our taxes so they can build more schools, hire more teachers, etc.

We have a hospital in my state that’s in danger of having to close down, because they have so many illegal immigrants coming into their birthing center without money and without insurance, and of course, the hospital still provides them with services. Now the entire community may end up without a hospital as a direct result of that.

I don’t have a problem with legal immigration. My own grandparents were immigrants, but they came to our country the right way and it took them years to do it. To provide amnesty to those who came here illegally--or their children--and allow them to benefit from breaking the law, in my opinion, is a slap in the face to every legal immigrant in this country.

Of course, that’s just my personal opinion, and people have the right to disagree with me. But I will never support legislation that provides amnesty to illegal immigrants.

I am far from a Barbarian - I'm a hard working citizen! I have 4 children that I have to put through college - so why is it I am expected to work my *** off and pay taxes so that illegal's kids can go to college and then double down and work harder so my own children can go to college?

Sorry - the illegal's children's education is not my problem. It is THEIR parent's problem!

That then allows them to sponser every one of their relatives into this country and we are right back to where we started from.

I hadn't heard of it, but from your description it seems a good idea. What good could come of deporting someone who has known no country but the one he has been living in all his life?
