I agree with you it's upsetting to see the mistreatment of animals it's so cruel especially as they can't talk & tell you whats happened you'll only know by the degree of the abuse on them!. These abusive owners will go to hell in my opinion they are God's creatures!.

I agree. Unfortunately the R S P C A have their hands tied. If it does go to court the punishment is negligible.
People don't always realise how time consuming a pet can be. Doesn't excuse ill treatment of the animal. I think people should have to fill in a questionnaire before they can buy an animal for a pet.
Lets face it, if we want a rescue animal then our home has to be vetted first.
The law should be changed to prevent people buying animals on a "whim": but what political party would be brave enough?

I've heard too many horror stories to cry over this, but where I'm from people sometimes talk about making it mandatory for people who want to have a pet to take classes first. I'm all for it. If you then mistreat your animal, you can't claim any kind of ignorance, and the law can have a go at you with anything it has at its disposal.

When you get a pet... any pet.. you have a duty to look after and love it. anytime of the year not just christmas although it happens more often that time of year.
They must not be cast aside when you cant be bothered anymore as they should become part of the family. And I agree also with other posters on here... its the same with children. I dont like cruelty or neglect to any living thing.

I think the sentences should be a lot harsher for people who are cruel to animals .
What s the point of just banning people from having animals these people dont care because they dont want to look after them in the first place ,thats plain to see They should be jailed for a few months

I feel exactly the same way as you do about dogs, our golden retriever is a rescue dog, she came to us at one year old, we were her fifth owners in that short space of time, she was in a real state, she was so thin she looked like a whippet, she had cigarette burns under her chin, part of her coat had had to be shaved off because she'd had such a bad dose of mange, her back leg was a mess, it took us 12 months to get her back into any sort of shape and to gain her trust, be we persevered and gave her all the love and attention she needed, she is now 12 and hasn't got as much energy as she once had, she is our baby and we love her so very much, she is loved, protected, spoilt rotten and in return she gives us so much love and pleasure its hard to explain, I would still like to get my hands on the person who hurt her so badly, all I can say is if they can do what they did to my dog then what could they do to a child, hard to imagine.

I'm with you 110%. I have no idea why people get pets & ignore , neglect & abuse them.
I have no problem at all turning someone in to the authorities.
Sad thing is, the punishment for this is no way strict enough!!!
At this moment I have a senior Husky that I am trying to find a home for. Her owners abandoned her in the back yard two months ago. She belonged to a neighbor of mine!!!

these are the ways world goes as man moves with fast with his helm of affairs. perhaps bcz we don have a superior being controlling us , except some of us trying to . then let us resolve to consel such people as and when where we meet. it does not matter how many we transform but even one changed mind fellow will change many others and thus will be contagious. at the end of life you and i will have the achievement of a FEW GOOD MEN ! is nit.?
