file allocation table or FAT32 environment will only make your system perform slower than the NTFS environment. if u r using win 2000, xp or above, try using NTFS file system rather than FAT32.
NTFS will make your system more stable and will repair itself when an error occurs. sometime without even u realizing it. NTFS also has the ability of compressing hard drive space so u get more out of your empty drive space.
it will not affect your system speed or performance if your hard drive is bigger. that will not be the case of FAT or FAT32. if ur drive bigger it will reduce your system performance.

Lol gotta love the rubish people come out with on here ( see above ) FAT32 it the way your hard drive is frormated and the way it stores info. I would guess your using an old type of windows ( 95, 98 or 2000 ) If you are getting errors then it may be that your hard drive is coming to the end of its life, but you could try reinstalling windows first to see if that solves the problem. If your running windows xp then you need to reinstall and format using NTFS.

Jenno is right, this drive could be going.
but if you are using xp try this.. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.
2. At the command prompt, type the following, where drive letter is the drive that you want to convert:
convert drive letter: /fs:ntfs
For example, type the following command to convert drive E to NTFS:
convert e: /fs:ntfs

it will convert to ntfs without reinstalling
