I don't know that it would be the main reason, but one factor is certainly that married men have as much to lose in an affair as married women, so there is less risk of discovery.

Well, I think it makes a lot of sense for a married person to find a cheating partner in another married person. This way you are both much more likely to be in the "relationship" for the same thing, you are probably both looking for the relationship for the same reasons, and you both have the same reasons not to "tell" on the other so it is a safer way to go.
Of course, when someone cheats they might cheat with anyone, but I would imagine stats would point to more married people cheating with other married people more frequently then with other single people.

Its the fact that the commitment is purely to satisfy physical cravings and not emotional needs. When both are married, there tends to be no strings attached and your less likely to end up with somebody who wont let go. I'm not justifying having affairs, but each to their own

I believe its what you've already said. Both know they aren't going to leave their spouses and this way, no strings are attached. But I have often seen this happen and sooner or later feelings in involved and that is when the real trouble starts. I think it is best to stay with your partner you have now and if and when you consider having an affair, please divorce your mate. Alot of things can be avoided if more people think from their brain and not from between their legs..

I do agreed with you. It is not that there is no commitment or string attached. It is more thrilling to have fling with married men rather single especially it comes to sex.

Because she knows they both have something to lose if it gets out. It is easier with a married man because she knows for the most part he will not stalk her and try to break up her marriage.

No. I don't believe it's true. If one is having problems, why aim to hurt more people. I don't hang around people who even talk aobut getting someone else's husband. I don't think we'd be around each other at all if that were the case.

Yes, what you mentioned and it is assumed that they know how to keep a secret because they have something to lose too.

It is because they have no morals and only care about self gratification. They don't care who they hurt as long as THEY are happy!
